Eliza is an artificial intelligence program impersonating a Rogerian psychiatrist. Today programs such as this are known as "Chat Bots".

Eliza was originally developed by Dr. Joseph Weisenbaum way back in 1966. The original program was written in Fortran, but this is a JavaScript version. Most modern day Chat Bots are variations on this original theme.
